1 Other than the Premier and the Premier Reserves sections, the crosstables have been pieced together from results as reported in the Western Morning News. These were not all complete or accurate. Hence two of the tables are incomplete with some of the scores of the non-prizewinners unknown.

Notes |
1 July 2022 |
Initial upload which consists of 22 of the 28 games from the main section, plus six games from subsidiary sections. Tony Gillam's booklet Plymouth 1938 and Bournemouth 1939, which is no.65 in The Chess Player's Rare and Unpublished Tournaments and Matches series, was a great help in putting together this file. Thanks to Tony for letting me have a copy, and in turn to Bob Jones who supplied Tony with the games played by Ron Bruce and Harold Mallison. With the benefit of the ever-expanding scope of online archives, I've been able to add a little more detail to Tony's work. The crosstables are almost complete. |
2 July 2022 |
