Games and Chess Career of Ronald Wilson (Ronnie) Ives (born 10 July 1923, Pontefract, died 13 February 1964, Leeds)
Ronnie Ives's wife Jacoba (Cobie) Ives (née Rosema) was also a chess player. She was born in Groningen, Netherlands, on 9 February 1923 and died in London, 20 March 2020.
Ronnie and Cobie had three daughters. I am indebted to Ingrid Ives and the rest of Ronnie and Cobie's family for preserving their chess memorabilia, and then lending it to me for the creation of this page. Its inspiration was Ingrid's thread about her parents at the English Chess Forum. See also, the article on Ronnie & Cobie Ives which Ingrid Ives and I wrote for the July 2023 issue of CHESS Magazine. For this feature I have also drawn on information about Ronnie and Cobie posted at Steve Mann's Yorkshire Chess History website. JS.

Yorkshire Evening Post Chess Column
Starting on 23 January 1958, Ronnie Ives contributed a weekly chess column to the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper, featuring a puzzle, a report on chess in Yorkshire and often a game score. It appeared every Thursday. The Ives family kept a scrapbook of these columns, which I have scanned and digitised. The following table has links to these columns.
n.b. columns were numbered from 11 August 1960.
