The Midland Open Championship was won by W J Stirling who was no stranger to the Congress, having played several times in the junior events. Recently he has been receiving wise counsel from our old friend Bob Wade, who will doubtless be pleased with the results of his handiwork.

The Warwickshire Under-18 Championship was won by Mark Ardin of the Solihull C.C. who, in effect, gave his rivals handsome odds by undertaking the production of daily bulletins of the Walbrook Tournament. Under the guidance of his club Secretary, Peter Griffiths, Mark has made rapid progress and has been doing well at a high board for Solihull in Division I of the Birmingham League.
